Mississippi State junior linebacker Willie Gay Jr. has declared for the 2020 NFL Draft. Gay became the second junior to declare for the NFL Draft off the 2019 Bulldog team. He joins Cameron Dantzler, who declared in December. Willie was limited in action throughout the season due to being suspended for 8 games during the season, and getting ejected from another.

Mississippi State’s defense will have some big holes to fill with Willie Gay declaring. The linebacker position is already thin and if Erroll Thompson also declares for the draft, which is a possibility, then the Bulldogs will be searching for a leader in that position group. The Bulldogs also will be without Leo Lewis as he finished his senior campaign. Mississippi State will need some young guys to step up in big places next season if they want to be able to improve on defense.
