Mississippi State’s second commitment from Big Dawg Camp came in the way of 2018 3* cornerback Jaylon Reed of Olive Branch High School. Jaylon held offers from Oregon, Ole Miss, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Georgia.

Jaylon wasn’t considered a take by most, with only one remaining spot left for a cornerback on Mississippi State’s board that many considered would be filled by 2018 3* Jemaurin Jones of Brookhaven High School. However, Reed pulled the trigger first and becomes the Bulldogs’ third cornerback commitment of the 2018 class.

Jaylon racked up 44 tackles and added two interceptions his junior season for Olive Branch High School. Many considered this should really help with landing Reed’s teammate Fabien Lovett, who is considered a big target and holds offers from Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Purdue.

Jaylon also provides an example that the 247 Crystal Ball isn’t 100% accurate as Jones only was projected at a 15% clip of committing to Mississippi State and 55% for Ole Miss.  Ole Miss was thought to be in good shape for the cornerback after he tweeted this photo after news broke about the former Rebel head coach.

However, Jaylon is now a Bulldog, and though his teammate Fabien Lovett didn’t show up at Big Dawg Camp last night, he unofficially visited Mississippi State last Monday, and the Bulldogs are still considered in good shape for the talented defensive end.
